Immunity

How do we protect ourselves from getting sick ?
  • Wash our hands often with soap and water.
  • Cover our nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Support our immune system to keep it healthy.
What is our immune system?

Our immune system is part of the body's defence against infectious organisms and other invaders. Through a series of steps called the immune response, the immune system detects, identifies and attacks organisms and substances that invade our systems and cause disease. Our immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect our body. In other words it is the function of our immune system to back up the body's first line defence (external barriers e.g skin, mucous membranes) when it fails to keep out germs, by searching for, detecting and eliminating or destroying them.

Once inside our body, our immune system works different levels. There are several components of our immune system such as the White blood cells and antibodies. The white blood cells are probably the most important part of our immune system. These "white blood cells" are actually a whole collection of different cells that work together to destroy bacteria and viruses. Antibodies are substances made by the body's immune system in response to bacteria, viruses, fungus and toxins.

T helper cells, (a subgroup of white blood cells) play an important role in establishing and maximising the capabilities of our immune system. They activate & direct other immune cells to kill them. T cells known as Killer T cells can detect cells in our body that are harbouring viruses, and when it detects such a cell it kills it.

How should we support our immune system?

Our immune system requires important nutrients to build its components, such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, probiotics (e.g. vitamin A, B6, C, E, Iron, Zinc, magnesium, potassium, anti-oxidant rich flavonoids, amino acids, yogurt) and is also helped by plenty of exercise and enough sleep each night. We can also support our immune system by taking Colostrum which contains antibodies.

Anti-oxidants neutralise dangerous free radicals which are formed in the fat and aqueous parts of your body.  This means that we should be taking water soluble and fat soluble anti oxidants to protect ourselves from these radicals. Most antioxidants are water soluble e.g. catechins from green tea and anthocyanidins from coloured plants e.g. Bilberry and  grape.  Examples of fat soluble antioxidants are Lutein and Zeaxanthin which aid eye health.

Which CTL products are focused for supporting the immune system?

COTROL  for reducing cholesterol absorption also supports the immune system because of its:-
Phytosterols which enhance and balance the function of T helper cells. Potent antioxidants called catechins in the Green tea. Catechins have been studied extensively and are much stronger than vitamin C.
Amino Acids and Flavonoids

Colostrum
Colostrum is the pre milk fluid produced from a mothers mammary glands in the first few days after birth.
Colostrum provides life supporting immune and growth factors  that ensure the health & vitality of a new born.

The growth factors stimulate the normal reproduction of cells and may promote muscle growth and shift fuel utilisation from carbohydrate to fat, increasing the burning of fat. Our own bodies produce fewer growth factors as we age resulting in more rapid aging. The growth factors in Colostrum may promote healing and provide an anti-aging response. The Immune factors in CTL Colostrum such as the immunoglobulins (or antibodies)  IgA & IgM help to stimulate & support immune function by providing defense in both treatment and prevention of viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, yeast, and fungus.

Eye-Relief

Royal Jelly
The active ingredients in Royal Jelly are the hydroxy fatty acids known as 10HDA. These destroy bacteria and microbes and help strengthen the immune system.
